BEACON, N.Y. – The Salvation Army has operated a soup kitchen in Beacon for 15 years, feeding 20-25 people daily, but budget constraints have forced it to close down, reported The Poughkeepsie Journal.

The food pantry will continue to operate, and the location will continue to offer light meals, such as soup, for its senior programs. The Beacon program is applying for grants to re-open, but does not expect any help before 2016, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.
